Mr. James Attah Onoja was born on 1st June 1950 in ogene-unyi ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi state. He attended the Qua Iboe primary school from 1957- 1963. After completing the Primary School he went to Government Craft School Idah 1964 to 1966. He proceeded to the Government Technical School, Ilorin where he obtained the City and Guilds of London Institute part l & ll and Federal Craft Certificate in 1968 and 1969 respectively. Between 1973 and 1974 he obtained Advanced level General Certificate of Education in Economics, Government and Religious Studies and then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University in 1975 and graduated with Bachelor of Library Science (BLS) Degree in 1978.

Mr. James A. Onoja took appointment with the Federal Polytechnic Idah in 1979 as Librarian 1 afterhis first Degree in Library Science and went to the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI) where he obtained a Master Degree in Library Studies in 1983.

In the Federal Polytechnic Idah Library, he rose through the ranks and became the Polytechnic Librarian in 1999.

He contributed immensity to the growth of the Library at the Polytechnic and held several appointmentsat the Federal Polytechnic Idah,including: acting Rector, Chairman of the popular Multi- million Co-operative Society that transformed the lives of theStaff and the Institution. He came to Salem University in 2012 on sabbatical appointment.

Mr. James Onoja Attah retired from the Federal Polytechnic Idah in June 2015 and as a seasoned Library Administrator he was given contract appointment in the Salem University Lokojaas Deputy University Librarian and has served as the University Librarian to date. He has publications in Library and Information Science.

Mr. James A. Onoja is a Born again Christian. He is married with four children.
