Salem University Nigeria; The College of Law holds First Lecture in her law week; Urges Legal Practitioners to adopt the Usage of Technology in the profession

As part of it’s effort to improve the legal profession in Nigeria, Salem University Nigeria Holds it’s maiden lecture with the theme: Law and Technology; A Call for Paradigm Shift.

The lecture was held on the 7th of July, 2021 at the University’s Law auditorium, Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.

The maiden lecture marks the beginning of a weeklong lineup of events, and was attended by Honourable Justice Alaba Omolaye Ajileye of the High Court of Justice, Lokoja.

Others in attendance are the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Alewo Johnson Akubo, the Registrar Pastor Chukwuemeka Idika, the Director of Academic Planning Prof. Sunday Okpanachi and Dean of the College,  Dr. Joshua Igonoh and many others.

Justice Ajileye in his presentation called for a paradigm shift in the legal profession.

He said that the legal framework for the prevention of terrorism in Nigeria is of utmost importance to the peace and security of the country.

He therefore urged legal practitioners and students of law to adopt the usage of technology in legal practice.  

Meanwhile, he emphasized on the Terrorism Prevention Act (TPA) 2011, TPA Amendment Act 2013, now referred to as TPA 2011 (as amended) and enacted to prevent and deal with terrorism in Nigeria.
