Tell us about yourself and your journey since graduating from Salem University.
My name is Nash Fom Joseph. I graduated with a degree in Accounting from Salem University in 2018. Coming from a humble background and losing both parents early in life, I had to shoulder the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings. In 2014, I was privileged to receive a scholarship from the Sam Amaga Foundation, and that opportunity changed my life. Since graduating, I have worked with Salem University, earned a Master’s degree in Accounting, and I’m currently pursuing my PhD in Accounting. I also serve as the Principal Accountant and Internal Auditor of the University.
How did Salem University prepare you for life after graduation?
Salem University was more than just an academic institution for me—it was the place where I discovered my identity, purpose, and calling. The spiritual depth, leadership focus, and high academic standards helped shape my values. I learned discipline, excellence, and how to face life with courage. Salem equipped me not just for a career, but for destiny.
What has been your biggest achievement or milestone since graduation?
Rising from a place of disadvantage to becoming a Principal Accountant and starting my PhD journey is a major testimony for me. But more importantly, my greatest achievement is becoming a responsible leader, capable of influencing others positively and being a support system for my family and community.
What advice would you give to current and prospective students of Salem University?
Never despise small beginnings. Lean into the opportunities and values Salem offers—academic excellence, godly character, and leadership. Be focused, stay rooted in faith, and always remember that greatness is not about where you start, but how you grow. Your story can be rewritten, just like mine was.
