B.Sc. Economics Programme aims at training a crop of young graduates who are well nurtured, and adequately equipped with intellectual capabilities and zest for excellence with high ethical standards and Godliness in government, entrepreneurship, corporate governance and management of organizational, financial and material resources. In pursuance of this, the programme is oriented and premised on the ideology of seeking new information, and competencies necessary to position its graduates as strategic thinkers and superior players in the emerging local, national, and the global economy. Accordingly, the philosophy is to produce graduates equipped with critical skills and abilities to conceptualize real life problems and build models for resolving them, collect and analyze relevant data, communicate research results in a language that is easily understood by politicians and others who may not be economists, and prepare realistic roadmap for policy implementation. Admission Requirement: Prospective candidates are expected, in addition to the entry requirements of Salem University, to have a minimum of five credit passes that must include Mathematics, English, Economics, and any two of the following: Geography, Government, Accounts, History, and Commerce in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), the General Certificate of Education/National Examination Council (NECO) or a combination of both at a maximum of two sittings. For candidates to qualify for direct entry, they must have A – level passes in two relevant subjects or SU Dip, in addition to five credits passes at the O level, which must include English Language and Mathematics. Candidates with reasonable OND/ND or NCE passes may also be considered for admission via direct entry. Duration: 4 Years
